90 MW of renewable geothermal energy
The fifth stage of Reykjavik Energy's Hellisheidi Geothermal powerstation is now operational and producing 90 MW of clean energy.
The fifth and last stage of Hellisheidi Geothermal powerstation electricity production was the installation of two high pressure 45 MW turbines. Hellisheidi now produces 303 MW of electricity and 133 MW of hot water with a target capacity of 400 MW. Fully built this will be the world's largest geothermal power station in terms of installed capacity.
