The Importance of Inclusivity

Greater social inclusion supports stronger and more sustainable growth. Iceland is one of the world's most inclusive societies based on equality, basic and digital infrastructure, entrepreneurship and employment.

The World Economic Forum publishes the Inclusive Growth and Development Report 2017 to lay out strategies for cutting vicious cycles of stagnation and polarisation of opportunties and income, and turning them into virtuous cycles of social inclusion and  more sustainable growth. The report covers 109 economies and presents a new global index, the Inclusive Development Index (IDI). The goal is to provide a more nuanced assessment of countries’ level of economic development than GDP per capita alone. Iceland ranks number four of all the economies compared in this first index.
